* OAC Winter Cabin Info
Enjoy a weekend of skiing and snowboarding and leave the cooking and cleaning to us!
We have a four bedroom house in Tahoe Donner, near Truckee. Our location puts us a short drive to all the best resorts; Squaw, Sugar Bowl, Northstar and Alpine Meadows.
Come up Friday night, meet the folks in the cabin and plan your day on the slopes. On Saturday and Sunday, you can ski or snowboard wherever you want! Nearby are Squaw Valley, Northstar, Sugar Bowl and Alpine Meadows. For the cross country skiers there is Royal Gorge and Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center, just up the street. Plus, there are many "locals" trails right in the neighborhood for those who want to go for a snowshoe hike.
Enjoy apres skiing and a hang out with the cabin crew Saturday night! Saturday night we prepare a great dinner for everyone, as well breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday, spend a second day on the slopes, or try something new... go for a snowshoe hike, try snowmobiling, or explore the Tahoe area under it's blanket of snow.
NON-SKIERS: You are welcome to come up and join the weekend, too! If you don't ski or snowboard, and want to go snow shoeing, ice skating, snowmobiling or just hang out in Tahoe, we can point you in the right direction! We always have a few pairs of snowshoes available at the cabin for you to use!
MORE ABOUT OUR SKI HOUSE:
We have a great 4 bedroom house. The bedrooms are set up "bunk-house style" and are shared. Two rooms have bunk beds, and two have queen beds, plus there are 3 sofa beds in the living room for those who like to sleep near the fireplace. In total, we can sleep 16 people off the floors, if folks are willing to share the queens. Bed sharing is usually only required/ encouraged on holiday weekends. Otherwise, we can accommodate 12 people without anyone sleeping on the floor or sharing a bed (this scenario utilizes the sofa beds). We have about 8 people most weekends. OAC tries to keep the rooms same sex (unless you specify otherwise). We assign bed space based on a variety of things: when you sign up (early signups get the single beds if requested), and the overall makeup of the group (how many men, women and couples there are). If you want to guarantee having a bedroom all to yourself, we have 2 available (each with 1 queen bed) for an additional $80 per weekend (that's just $40 per night, not per person!) Make sure you reserve this option in advance. All linens including towels and bedding are supplied.
ABOUT THE CARPOOLS:
The Outdoor Adventure Club sends out a carpool list to participants on the Wednesday afternoon before the trip. OAC does NOT provide transportation, so once you sign up, you are responsible for getting yourself there. In past years, it has been easy to get a ride if you don't have a car, as long as you start working on it as soon as the carpool list goes out. Also, some times folks who don't have adequate transportation get together and share renting an SUV for the weekend. This is always a great option that you can work out with your carpool.
