Mountain Biking & Camping Weekend at Boggs Mountain
May 12-13, 2012 & Sept 15-16, 2012
All the excitement of mountain biking on great singletrack combined with all the fun of camping in the woods!
About 2 1/2 hours northeast of San Francisco, near Calistoga, is one of the best mountain biking areas in Northern California. It's called Boggs Mountain Demonstration Forest, and it has a network of singletrack so sweet, you'll never want to ride anywhere else again (okay, maybe Downieville). The OAC guides are just are goo-goo about this place. It offers great singletrack with killer climbs, long downhills, and is never too technical. Great for most any rider! It's the Disneyland of mountain biking!
The Trip:
We'll spend two days riding every single trail in the park. This trip is suitable for just about any skill level from beginner to experts. Experts will fly along the trails, while advanced beginners will enjoy honing their skills on these friendly stretches of singletrack. Just about anyone with some off-road experience will enjoy this trip.
Instruction and coaching for advancing beginner riders is included in the trip.
After riding on Saturday, we'll take a quick rinse in the Solar Showers, and settle in for a great afternoon and evening at our campsite. We will be camping next to our cars so feel free to bring anything that makes you comfortable such as pillows, blankets, coolers, etc. Frisbees, campfire tales, and good friends are all part of the program as we enjoy a great dinner and night in camp. Anyone up for evening ride? Bring a headlamp.
Sunday's ride is going to be a morning ride, and can end whenever you all choose. The plan for Sunday is to wake up, have breakfast, then ride from about 9 until 11:30 or noon, or longer for those who desire. There are many options.
Meeting time will be anytime Friday evening, or during breakfast on Saturday morning. Note that there is no running water for toilets/showers at this campsite, so be prepared to be a bit dirty. But we will bring along some solar showers for a quick rinse off.
Since we are camping close to the cars, and taking day rides each day, the camping can be as comfortable as you'd like. bring a camp chair, pillow, air mattress, extra blankets, whatever makes you comfortable. We'll have a great camp kitchen set up to provide meals all weekend.
