Hike and Camp Weekend at Lassen National Park

Relax, kick back and spend the weekend camping amid the trees, lakes and peaks of Lassen National Park. The professional guides of the OAC will take care of all the details so you just need to sign up, show up, and have fun! We've been running great trips in Lassen for over 14 years- we have it wired!

We'll be car camping so we can bring (almost) all the comforts of home. Bring your pillows and camp chairs and relax. We have a great campsite with plenty of room, situated close to a lake. It's going to be a great weekend!

The OAC will roll out our awesome camp kitchen for the weekend. The menu hasn't been finalized, but you can expect to be well fed. Typical Outdoor Adventure Club menus include things like banana pancakes for breakfast, ginger-teriyaki kabobs, and Richard's campfire bananas flambé! Yummy!!

During the days we'll go on hikes to check out the amazing variety of terrain and geothermal features the park has to offer. OAC guides will be leading the hike each day. Outdoor Adventure Club guides are all certified as Wilderness First Responders, and have a wealth of experience. The hiking in the park (with the exception of Lassen Peak itself) is fairly easy, with minimal ups and downs along the way. The elevation will slow us down a bit, but it'll be a great weekend to take a leisurely hike through the woods to alpine lakes, or to visit geothermal features like Bumpass Hell and the Sulphur Works.

The Trip:

Come join us on Friday evening as we settle into camp. Some people choose to leave work early on Friday to make it to camp before dark. Some people arrive late on Friday, and still others will spend the night in a hotel along the way, and meet us early on Saturday. It's all good with us!

On Saturday we'll take a hike through the woods to visit alpine lakes, then return to camp to grab dinner. After dinner we'll strike out for the summit of Lassen Peak! There's going to be plenty of moonlight, making this an amazing night time hike. Bring a warm jacket and headlamp on this hike! The hike to its summit is a five mile round-trip, with 2000 feet of elevation gained on the way to the summit at 10,457 feet!

On Sunday we can take it easy or take another great hike in the area. There are many to choose from!

Of course you'll also have the option of doing a whole lot of nothing all weekend. Bring a comfortable chair and and book and just chill by a nearby lake if you prefer. Outdoor Adventure Club camping trips are known for great food, and this will be no exception. Let us know if you have any dietary considerations- we're happy to accommodate them if we know.
