Memorial Day Weekend Hiking and Camping, Hodgdon Meadows in Yosemite National Park

May 25-28, 2012

hiking in yosemiteJoin the fun on a great Outdoor Adventure Club trip to Yosemite. We'll have three great days of hiking, as well as three nights of camping among the trees, lakes and peaks of Yosemite National Park.

We'll be camping in Hodgdon Meadows where we have a group campsite for the weekend for great meals and socializing. During the days, we'll head out for day hikes in various areas of Yosemite National Park. We'll pick our day hike destinations based on the experience and enthusiasm of the group. Your experienced OAC guides know all the great trails in the area and a few secret spots, so we'll have a great hike each day.

Back in camp we'll take care of all the food for the weekend and all the group gear. You'll need personal gear (tent, sleeping bag, etc) but we'll take care of all the kitchen equipment necessary for a great weekend.

We'll be car camping so we can bring (almost) all the comforts of home. Bring your pillows and camp chairs and relax. We have a great campsite with plenty of room (it can accommodate 30 people!). It's going to be a great weekend!

The Outdoor Adventure Club guides will be cooking up some great meals on the trip. Be ready to eat well as we spend the weekend in the woods, and let us know if you have any dietaryhking in yosemiteconsiderations. We are happy to accommodate just about any diet.

The Trip:

On Friday evening, we'll meet at our campsite in Hodgdon Meadows and set up camp.

On Saturday, we'll enjoy a warm breakfast at camp before heading out for the afternoon to one of our favorite hikes. Its a beautiful wooded hike along the Tuolumne River to a secret waterfall with no crowds. The hike is a relatively easy 4.5 miles with a short steep climb near the end of the trail. Its also a great swimming spot if the weather cooperates. In the evening back at camp, the OAC guides will whip up a fantastic camp side dinner. We might even take a short evening hike so bring your headlamps.

On Sunday, we'll rise early, enjoy a hearty breakfast, then strike out for the top of North America's tallest waterfall, Hiking in YosemiteUpper Yosemite Falls. This hike is 7.2 miles with an elevation gain of 2,700 ft. Along the way, we'll enjoy spectacular views from Columbia Rock as we make our way through dozens of switchbacks to the top of the falls. In the evening, we'll once again enjoy dinner and socialize around the campfire.

On Monday, we'll wake to a warm breakfast and coffee. You'll have the option to go on an easy, mellow half day hike through the Tuolumne grove of Sequoias to finish up the weekend, or just relax and prepare to head back home.

Of course you'll also have the option of doing a whole lot of nothing all weekend. Bring a comfortable chair and book and just chill by the camp enjoying the great outdoors. Outdoor Adventure Club camping trips are known for great food, and this will be no exception.

What's a Hike & Camp Weekend?
On an OAC Hike and Camp Weekend, we are camping close to the cars and taking day hikes each day. The camping can be as comfortable as you'd like. Bring a camp chair, pillow, air mattress, extra blankets, whatever makes you comfortable. We'll have a great camp kitchen set up to provide meals all weekend.
