Why Hike Alone? Meet like-minded outdoors-loving, adventurous folks on this fun day! Take a beautiful hike with us Point Reyes, burn a bunch of calories, and then refuel with oysters and other BBQ treats.
 THE TRIP:
We are going to hike the 8.2 mile Bear Valley Trail to Arch Rock in Point Reyes. Our trail is out and back, and will take us along gently rolling terrain with no more than a total elevation change of 400 feet. The trail is incredibly beautiful as it takes you through various terrain, passes through coastal forests of Douglas fir and then past ferns that adorn the creek we hike beside.
This hike is considered to be easy for those who are reasonable fit. It has 400 feet of elevation gain over the entire trail, which is very minimal. Hikers should be in good physical condition, and comfortable hiking similar distances. Meeting time will be 9:30 am in Pt. Reyes (directions to come with your reservation). The hike will finish at approximately 1 pm, followed by lunch that includes an oyster BBQ.
This is always a treat for everyone! OAC will pull out the BBQ and grill up some oysters, mussels, chicken and other treats (vegetarians accommodated, too) for a post hike "happy hour". Point Reyes and Tomales Bay are known world wide for their oysters, so it would be a shame to depart without sampling some! The OAC will also be offering a harder hike on the same day, so whatever your fitness level, you'll have a group to hike with, and both groups will join together to enjoy the BBQ.
