Hike up Mission Peak in Fremont

February 5, 2012

hiking in fremont with the outdoor adventure clubHere's a great hike in Fremont! The full loop is only 6 miles, but the 2500 foot climb to the top inspires you to stop often to take in the great views as you ascend.

This is a great hike for anyone who is training to do trips to places like Shasta, Half Dome, or Kilimanjaro. In other words, it's a climb!

At the top we'll have snacks and enjoy the view that stretches from San Jose to San Francisco. In addition to the great natural views, we'll probably be treated with up-close views of the hang gliders that use Mission Peak to launch. Then, we'll enjoy a nice downhill to a picnic lunch at the bottom of the hill.

Level of difficulty: Although only 6 miles, this trail climbs 2,500 feet and does so in 3 miles, making it a fairly muscular hike. You should be comfortable hiking 6 or more miles before attempting this hike.

Along the way your Outdoor Adventure Club guide will show you the way, keep the conversation going, and serve up a great OAC lunch, too!

Meet new friends, explore the trails with experienced guides and make this weekend count!
