Horseback Riding on the Beach and BBQ Lunch

Saddle up a horse and head down the beach on horseback. Everyone will meet at 10:30 in the morning. Then we'll introduce each other and you can introduce yourself to your horse for the day. Once you’ve said hi, you can take a few laps around the paddock area to get used to the horse and the saddle. Once we leave the stables area you’ll quickly leave the hustle and bustle of San Francisco in the dust, and trade it in for a ride on the beautiful Pacific coastline.

The trail starts with a ride along coastal cliffs amongst abundant vegetation. The stables and road quickly drop from view, and all you see is the wide expanse of the Pacific Ocean and the flower covered dunes in front of you. The trail goes through the grassy dunes as you make your way down to the beach. This time of year the flowers cover the hills. Everyone is always surprised by the beauty that unfolds over the cliff's edge once they leave the stables!

Once you’re on the beach your ride will continue along the beach for about an hour. Occasionally the horses canter and trot to catch up with the pack, but for most of the ride you will be moseying along at a walking pace. Occasionally, the horses like to run, even though the wranglers don't want them to. There are also “beginner” horses who generally don’t run, no matter what you do. Some of the horses even like to get their hooves wet as they dance along the shoreline and waves lap up at their ankles. Get out the cameras!

After our trip down the beach we'll head back up to the stable, taking in more cliffs and ocean views along the way. After our ride, we will have a cowboy BBQ lunch at the stable or at nearby Lake Merced.

First time riders and more experienced riders are all welcome on this trip!
