Rafting on the South Fork of the American River, Chili Bar and The GorgeMay 22, 2010
Spend a full day rafting the Class 3+ rapids of the South Fork of the American with professional guides at the helm of each raft. Cascading down the western slope of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Gold Rush Country is the scenic South Fork of the American River. Just a short drive from Sacramento, the South Fork offers exhilarating rapids and a great deal of fun and enjoyment.
We're going to run the "full river", hitting both the Chili Bar and Gorge sections in this full day of fun!
Beginner rafters will love this ideal introduction to the thrills of whitewater. More experienced rafters will enjoy the increased challenge of the Gorge run and can use this trip as a warm-up for one of the bigger rafting trips on the calendar. Everyone will enjoy the incredible scenery and fun on the river.
The South Fork of the American is located near the town of Coloma, north of Placerville, and East of Sacramento off Hwy 50. Plan to arrive on Saturday morning by 10:30 a.m.
The Outdoor Adventure Club always uses professional guides for our rafting trips to maximize the safety for everyone. You may see similar trips offered for less money, but those trips generally don't use professional guides and may take on undue risk. Make it fun, come rafting with the OAC!
